Post subject:  GA Operations at Military Bases

You've been invited to fly right seat in a Beechcraft Baron to KGUS (Grissom Air Reserve Base) on an Angel Flight. The PIC has tasked you with filing and briefing the hop. Below are the questions that you must answer (50 points each):

1) KGUS is a military air reserve base. Home to the 434th Aerial Refueling Wing. As a civilian aircraft, can you land there? What would be required to obtain permission to do so (if possible)?
2) What is PPR? How does one go about satisfying PPR requirements? Where does the PPR originate and what is done with the information?
3) Civilian aircraft and military aircraft are segregated on the airfield. What restrictions, in addition to PPR, apply to GA aircraft?
4) Will you be able to fuel at KGUS?
5) Angel Flight dispatch informs you your passenger is waiting at BASE OPS, not the FBO. Upon landing and clearing the runway, what instructions can you expect and what other procedures might you brief the PIC to expect?
6) What operational considerations should you anticipate while taxiing and parking at BASE OPS?
7) How does one obtain a weather/departure briefing and file a flight plan at KGUS?
8) Departing IFR to Chicago Midway Apt, what additional operational considerations should you brief as you depart to the north and west?
