Title: Angle of Attack Awareness

Topic:Angle of Attack Awareness: Why is That Stick Shaking?

Date and Time:Saturday, March 30, 2019, starting at 10:00 Central Daylight Time

Speaker(s): Dennis Miller CFI, 2018 FAASTeam Representative of the Year for Michigan

Brief Description:

A lack of awareness with respect to Angle of Attack (AoA) can result in the loss of aircraft control and contribute to a fatal accident. Increasing the general aviation pilot's awareness of the aerodynamic effects of AoA will reduce the likelihood of inadvertent loss of control.

While most general aviation aircraft are NOT equipped with special AoA indicators, pilots can understand this important concept and its effects during practice and training to avoid exceeding the critical angle of attack, and causing the airplane to stall.
