At the top of the page, on the right side of the bar that runs through the photo heading, click on the "User Control Panel" button.
On the left side, under options click on "Profile", then click on "Edit Avitar", then click on "Choose File". This will let you select a graphics file to upload for your Avitar. I pre-shrunk my avitar to 100 pixels x 100 pixels. I can't remember if it will scale avitars or if you have to do it. Go ahead and try uploading a pic and if it needs to be shrunk I can do that for you.
Under the Profile option you can edit your signature line, etc.
